Description:
Math Defense is a demo for a math education game. Using the tower defense format to practice math. The core gameplay loop has the player using a set of numbers to plug into math equations to build towners that attack enemies and stop them from reaching the end. Made in Unity.
Features:
- Easy drag-and-drop system to build towers quickly.
- A way to convert numbers to different values to keep the game fair.
- in-game tutorial
How to play:
- WASD to move the camera
- ESC to open the menu to quit (pressing ESC again closest to the window).
- building a tower can be done in two ways. One uses the mouse to click the base (yellowish-orange cubes) of an addition equation. This will pull up a window that allows you to solve that equation. Using the numbers on the bottom left of the screen, click, drag, and drop them to plug them into the equation. If it is correct, it will build a tower, and you will lose the number that was used; if not, it will return the number to its spot. The second way is by dragging the numbers over the problem and dropping them. If not, the correct number will go back to its spot. Note: By hovering over the build spots you can see the range of the tower.
- You have a limited amount of numbers you can use. You gain more as the level progresses. The bottom middle bar is where you will get a new number when it reaches 100. you gain points when destroying enemies.
- On the bottom right, there is a number converter spot that lets you drag a number onto that space, and you can change the value of that number. Above the spot, you can see how many times you can convert a number. You gain more chances to change numbers as the level progresses. A sound effect will play when you gain more.
- The first wave gives you time to set up. It will only start spawning enemies when you press start in the top right corner. Towers will automatically attack the closest enemy. The top right corner displays when the next wave will start.
- You have 10 lives. If an enemy is at the end of the path, you lose 1 life. Reaching 0 is a loss. Currently, there are 5 total waves; complete all of them to win.
